Finding the perfect health care Professional By Bryon Brewster

Within Every profession you have the Great, the Good, the everyday and the really bad. But how do you differentiate between them from the start? Depending on the profession this can get tricky, because we all go to the professionals as they know and can do things that we don’t or can’t. We expect them to know more then us at something, right? So you might say it’s pretty easy to be lied to about what we know nothing about. An example of this, is that a long time ago there was a notion that the world was flat, that’s what our ancestors were told and they all believed it. Until one day someone came along and proved it wrong. I can give you many examples of this, but save you some time and get straight to the good stuff on how to find a great professional of Healthcare. One more thing; don’t be afraid to ask questions! You deserve the best!a great professional will be more then happy to answer your questions.

What is their formal training?
How many hours was the training?
What was it specific too?
What skills did they learn from it?

Be as specific with your questions as you can. Unfortunately, some Certifications like Canadian Fitness Professionals Personal Training certification (Can-Fit-Pro) can be earned on weekend courses with a follow up exam. Because of this, it is best to ask the following questions;

What other courses and workshops have they taken?

A great professional will always be learning. For the great, what they do is a passion and they will always be striving to learn everything they can about it. While their friends are out, they’re at a course or reading the newest book. To me, a number of workshops and courses can be as important as any formal education because it shows continuing education. That is dedication.

Have they dealt with other clients with similar issues, complaints or goals? What was the result?

Hopefully you have done a little research and know a bit about your issues, ask them about it and listen to what they have to say. If you disagree, ask for clarification. Maybe they have a new take on things, this could mean they are part of the great category.

Can you contact a current or previous client of theirs for a referral?

Just as when you rent an apartment or find a new job you need to provide references, so should your healthcare professional

In conclusion, these questions should give you an overall gut feeling about the healthcare professional. Go with that feeling as in my opinion, it’s usually right.

The upsides and downsides of finding the Great healthcare professional

Upside

Your best chance at Success - Your chances of success are in proportion to the expertise of the professional. The more complicated the issue, the more this will really rein true.

New and interesting approaches to your issues –. There are a number of approaches which can work even though your GP says different. An example of this is I get a number of people coming in and tell me that their GP said they shouldn’t squat. First off, what do you call sitting on the toilet? Getting in and out of a car? Out of a chair? We squat daily and should be prepared for it. Secondly, Look up any national Geographic magazine and you will see the old and young squatting for hours. Thirdly, whatever you don’t do will become what you can’t do. So what should be done instead of avoiding it? You should learn how to do it right… So ask questions and decide for yourself.

Downside

Bookings – Unless they just returned from a sabbatical in Costa Rica, They are usually quiet booked and getting the exact time you wish can be a Long Wait.

Cost – My mother always says, you get what you pay for. Also, Like the price of oil, supply vs demand.

New and interesting approaches to your issues – I sometimes must do some explaining and coxing with my clients to have them try an approach to their problems that isn’t widely accepted in traditional western medicine. But I only do it because I’m pretty sure it will help them from my past experience.
